Spinach is ideal as it is the sweetest and most tender green, and you scarcely taste it anyway. This nourishing shake is a fabulous option when you’re too busy to prepare a meal or heart snack but need to be well nourished for a few hours.
The hemp seeds impart a subtle buttery flavor, and complete protein on par with an egg, as they contain all 9 essential amino acids in full complement. Feel free to improvise if you like, but the frozen banana chunks are the key to a rich, frosty, dense shake. With the frozen fruit, you won’t need ice to make this thick and frosty, as long as you add the water gradually, which enables you to control the consistency. Serves 2.
Ingredients:
- 2 frozen bananas, cut into pieces
- 2 cups fresh, organic spinach
- 1 cup frozen pineapple or mango pieces
- 1/4 cup raw hemp seeds
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, or more, to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Â Purified water to thin, as needed
Directions:
Place frozen fruit in high-speed blender, then add remaining ingredients, saving water for last. Add a little at a time to ensure you have a thick, frosty shake, or more if you like them thin. Enjoy!
