Maca, also called “Peruvian ginseng,” is a root that grows in the mountains of Peru. It’s a nutritionally dense super-food extremely rich in vitamins, minerals─such as highly bio-available calcium and magnesium─vitamins, enzymes, and all 9 essential amino acids.

Maca has been valued for centuries by traditional cultures for its many health benefits. It is a superfood well worth investing in and will last you a long time. This decadent tasting chocolate-banana shake is a great item to prepare when you want a satisfying but healthy treat. It’s a winner for kids too! The maca powder adds a lovely malted-milk characteristic. Serves 1-2

Ingredients:

  • 3 bananas, peeled, cut into chunks, and frozen overnight
  • One cup fresh nut or seed milk
  • Up to a tablespoon of Maca powder

Directions:

You can make this in either a high-powered blender or a food processor. In either case, place the bananas in the appliance and puree, adding the milk as needed for a thick shake. Add a few ice cubes if you like it extra frosty. Garnish with cacao nibs and enjoy!
