When blending to a creamy “soft serve” consistency, frozen bananas make a healthy, delicious ice crème base, not unlike vanilla soft serve you had as a kid, only without the saturated fat, cholesterol, sugar, and chemical additives. Ingredients:

  • 4 cups frozen banana chunks
  • 1/3 cup raw tahini (sesame butter)
  • 2-4 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon organic orange zest
  • Pinch of Pink salt (optional)

Directions:

Place frozen banana slices, tahini, orange juice, and zest to a high-speed food processor or blender. Use just enough juice to create a thick ice crème. Blend on high until smooth, stopping to scrape the sides as needed. You might wish to let the bananas thaw slightly for easier blending, then freeze your mixture for 1-2 hours to attain an ice crème consistency.
