When blending to a creamy “soft serve” consistency, frozen bananas make a healthy, beautifully delicious ice cream alternative. Creating healthy frozen desserts in lieu of commercial ice cream is a brilliant wellness tactic, as dairy-based ice cream is loaded with saturated fat, cholesterol, sugar, all of which detract from our health, plus many other dubious additives.

Now you can “have your cake and eat it too” with a sublime frozen dessert that is great for your body and soul with no hidden dangers, which would ideally be the case with all of our food choices. Once you get the basics down here, you will be amazed at the many stunning flavors you can create. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups frozen banana chunks
  • 2-4 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk, or other plant-based options.

Directions:

Place frozen banana slices and 2 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk into a high-speed food processor or blender. Blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes stopping to scrape the sides every so often. If your blender is having a hard time blending the bananas, add more almond milk by the tablespoon.

When well blended, your banana nice cream should have the consistency of soft-serve. Enjoy it as it, or transfer to a parchment-lined pan to freeze for later, especially if you would like to create some additional flavor variations.
